Circles and Keys

I never believed in monster or witches and all that crap...That was until I meet her. Frankie. She was a little goth girl. Well, I guess not goth. It's funny how you can confuse them. I mean, goth, emo, and Wiccan. They all dress in black and never get enough sun, but she was cute. I liked the way the girls looked.

Life was pretty normal until the day she approached me. I had seen her at school and checked her out every time she walked by, but never talked to her.

But that all changed near the end of the school year. The weather was warm and classes were wrapping up. I was going to head home soon, back to my sad home life. in the most boring little town in the world, to work a summer job in the local supermarket.

But that day, Frankie came over during school. She smiled and kinda looked to the ground quickly. “Hey, Jack, right?”
...Yeah,” I answered.
Can we meet after school today? I need to tell you something. Meet me down at the cove, okay?”
Sure,” I said.
The rest of the day was normal. I went to class, talked to some friends, made plans to meet up with them later that night, but did not tell them about Frankie. I mean, she did not fit in with my crowd, and I did not really fit in with hers.
Like I said though, I thought she was cute and I wanted to get to know her.
When class was over, I went down to the cove to meet her.

It's funny, there are like ten coves in town, but I knew which one she had meant.
She was already there when I got there. She was dressed in a long black jacket that covered her body. Her skin was pale but smooth. Her lips were lipstick black. She looked cute.
I walked over and smiled. “So, what's up?” I asked.
She looked down to the ground. “I had a dream about you last night,” she replied.
A dream about what?” I asked. Maybe a sex dream, that would be great! Maybe she wanted to act it out with me. I thought to myself.
She looked up at me her big green eyes were cold and looked scared. “There was a key and circles, then you. Does that mean anything to you?” “No, is that some kinda of goth come on?”
She giggled. “Goth? Who said I was goth? I mean, I like some of there music, but I am a Wiccan.”
Wiccan? I thought those were chicks with hairy legs and armpits. They would dance all day around the fire and smoke dope...”
No,” she smiled. “Those are hippies.”
I felt dumb for a second, but she smiled and all I could think of was her smile.

Well, I have no clue what your dream meant. Not sure what I can do,” I finally said.
Me neither, but it seemed important. Something bad is going to happen, if we do not figure it out.” Once again, she seemed to be afraid .
I looked at her. "Bad? What like a curse or something?”
She shrugged, “I could see where in my dreams you were. It was here, in the cove and you were screaming in pain.”
Well, that does not sound good, but it was just a dream. I'm sure nothing is going to happen. Look, show me where in the cove it was,” I reassured her.
She looked at me hesitantly. “Are you sure?”
Yes, I am not afraid.”
Then I will be for the two of us,” she said.
I placed my hand on her shoulder to comfort her. “Let's just take a look. It will be okay.”
I thought she might be nuts, but she was cute and she really was scared and I wanted to see if I could help.

We walked down the cove to a small cave.
It was in there,” she explained.
OK. Let's check it out.”
The kids in town, and by kids, I mean me too, used this particular cave to make out. It was safe. Maybe that was her plan all along, to get me here and have a little sex with me. Sounded good to me. Maybe she is a little freak.

We walked into the cave. There was a small firepit in the middle of the main area and beer cans littered the floor. It smelled of the ocean and stale beer. Not a great combo, but I was used to it. We used to party in here all the time.
See? It's safe. I told you. All good.”
She smiled and the stared blankly at the wall. I looked at what she was looking at. There was a circle on the wall, painted in a red that almost looked like blood.
That's the circle,” she said.
Maybe you've seen it before and it just showed up in your dream. I mean, the walls are covered with graffiti.”
Sex words and strange symbols that I had never put much thought into before. The symbols were all red like the circle.
Well, anyway, there are no keys, so I guess we are safe,” I smiled.
Yes, there are,” she said lifting her head up and staring at me with bright blood red eyes.
You are the key.” Small fangs appeared as she opened her mouth to speak.

I jumped back, but it was too late. She was on me before I could move. Her long claws dug deep into my skin and ripped through my flesh. The pain was too great for me to do anything but scream. I could feel her tongue thrusting into my wounds that she had made. She lapped at my blood. She ate my flesh.
Then, just when I thought I was done, that I could not take anymore, she stopped. She stood up and walked over to the circle and traced it with my blood. She said something, but I did not understand it. I was getting weaker now. I was fading away.
I could smell some thing strange and a hot light filled the room. Frankie moved over to me and said, “Sorry to do this to you, but it's only your blood line that can open the door, so I can go home. Thanks sweetie and by the way, I did have many sex dreams about you. You should have talked to me sooner. I would have rocked your world.” She smirked and walked out of sight.
The light died down and the room cooled off. I could still not move and the blood I had lost was too much. I will be dead soon.

Like I said, I did not believe in monsters before her.

Welcome

She stands staring out the window that overlooks the backyard, watching the setting sun when the sound of the doorbell brings her attention back to the room. Oh, it must be John, she thinks to herself. She moves quickly to the front door and thrusts the door open.
Oh, your not John,” she says. Standing before her was a short, bald, husky man. He looked up at her and said, “No. My name is Norm.”
Sorry, I was expecting my husband, John.”
I could never be so lucky. Miss.” Norm paused waiting for her to introduce herself.
Oh, sorry. I'm Terry Albert. I mean, Dossey. I'm just married, I need to get used to my new name.”
Congratulations, he is a lucky man,” Norm replies.
Oh, thank you! Can I help you?”
Norm looked up at Terry, his bright blue eyes catch Terry off guard. “Yes, Miss Dossey. May I please have a minute of your time to show you the latest thing in home décor?”
Norm reaches behind him and pulls forward a large suitcase.
Well, I don't have much time. I am cooking dinner for my husband and he has asked that I don't let anyone in the house, because of the horrible attacks the past few nights in town.”
Miss Dossey, you are in luck. What I have to show you goes right here on your stoop and it will only take a second of your time.” Norm snaps open the case and pulls out a small woven blue and green carpet. Embroidered on it was the word Welcomein black.
What is it?” Terry asks.
Norm smiles, “This is a beautiful, handcrafted work of art. It is made from the finest wools from my home country of Romania. Made by the children of the Orphanage in my home village.”
Oh! It is beautiful! What do you do with it?” Terry asks.
You place it on the stoop, here in front of your doorway and it warmly welcomes your friends and neighbors into your home. But that's not all! When Mr. Dossey works in your lovely yard, he can wipe his feet on it so he does not track dirt into your clean home, and let's not forget the children, after playing outside all day!”
Oh, we don't have any kids yet.” Terry interrupts.
Well, I am sure you will have many lovely children,” Norm replies.
Terry smiles, “I hope so. But I am not sure I can afford such a nice...” Terry searches for the word.
Norm interrupts, “Did I mention that $1.00 of the $2.00 cost goes to help the children?”
$2.00? Well, that is reasonable, and it helps the children!”
Norm grins from ear to ear. “Yes, a good deal indeed and the children will really appreciate the help.”
Hold on. I''ll get my purse.” Terry quickly walks back into the house and returns with $2.00 in hand. “Here you go,” she says.
Norm smiles and hands her the mat. “You just place it right there, in front of your door.”
Terry puts it on the floor right in front of the door. She smiles, “I like it. Thank you, sir.”
It has been my pleasure. I hope you and your husband have a good night and good luck with your new life together.” Norm turns and walks quickly toward an old beat up car. Terry watches as Norm gets into the car and drives off.
Norm looks back at her and for a quick second Terry is fixed on his face, his eyes filled with a deep sorrow. As the car rounds the corner, Terry snaps back. Oh, dinner! Terry closes the door and heads back to the kitchen, where she busily works on dinner. Time had passed and still no John. Terry sat at the table looking over her dinner as it gets cold. She cleans the table off and put all the food in the refrigerator and heads to the front window to peer out to the street. The sun has set and there is an eerie glow from the streetlights. Terry thinks to herself, Where are you John?
Two hours pass and Terry sits on the couch and still no John. She moves upstairs to their bedroom and slips into her sleeping gown and crawls into bed. In a short time she falls into a restless sleep.
The creak of the door opening wakes Terry up. Oh thank god John, Terry thinks to herself . She gets up and heads down the stairs. As she reaches the bottom of the steps, Terry calls out, “John, why are you home so late?”
That is when her eyes meet with a familiar face. “Oh, Norm. What are you doing here? Wait. Why are you in my house?” Terry shouts out.
Norm answers quietly. “You invited me in, Terry.”
No. You had better leave. My husband is home and he will not like you in here.”
Terry, please, you know he is not here and he will not be here. But it is okay. You will not be sad long.” Norm quickly moves toward her.
3 months later
A young lady kisses her husband goodbye. “Have a good day at work!”
He smiles, “yes dear, you have a good day, too.”
She watches him drive off and waves goodbye. Out of the corner of her eye, she sees a beat up old car parked just up the road. The young lady thinks nothing of it and closes the door. A few minutes later, she comes back out with a broom and sweeps clean a beautiful, hand crafted, wool welcome mat .

snipit

My day started like and other it was a gay morning I enjoyed a cup of coffee with the love of my wife wile I rolled my daily allotment of fags oblivious to the Queer events that wold revival them self to me that day the unholy horrors that would make a sane man made and a made man suicidal.

My new project

I started a few weeks ago working on a longer story never been good at fleshing out the little bits in the middle to make a longer story but this one is coming together and I thing it is going well. I have been working on the out line and taking chapter notes. I am hoping that in November during National Writing Month I can write it up. I may post chapter here as I go.
